Pushbikers 2022 – Part IV

International, regional, U 23

Even more amore: not only the Italian leader Filippo Fortin moves to the Pushbikers, but also Felix Meo – born in New Zealand, raised in Italy – completes our road team for 2022. He and our Austrian newcomer are also the link to the new youngsters. Preparing young riders for bigger tasks is a responsibility we are happy to take on. In the past months, our sporting director had many meetings with very young athletes. In the end, we really found a match with an ambitious 18-year-old from Chiemgau and Berlin. Welcome to the Pushbikers Felix, Raphael, Corbinian and Max.

“Hingabe, Disziplin und Entschlossenheit”

How did you get into cycling?

I came to Italy from New Zealand when I was ten. I was passionate about sport and wanted to try something new. My father raced internationally, so I got the passion from him.
Why do you love cycling and what are your special qualities?
When I cycle, I can clear my head – it’s almost my “meditation”. And I love to suffer. In addition, I have a very high work ethic, which allows me to give a lot in the race .

Why did you chose the Pushbikers?

To work with a group of new people and also because of the great race calendar the team has. Also, my “boss” Pippo wanted me here with him and we work very well together. My own successes include having contributed to a number of wins for various team leaders I have ridden for.

“”Nothing comes from nothing””

What particularly motivated you to pursue a career in cycling?
Team Gerolsteiner was the origin of my enthusiasm. The former top racing team had its quarters in the small Swabian village where I spent the first years of my childhood. So as a little boy I regularly saw the top athletes and their impressive fleet of cars in the village, watched the Tour de France on TV in 2008 and was inspired by it.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by people who have achieved something in life with a lot of zeal.
Moreover, I find it absolutely admirable when a person is not always preoccupied with himself as an individual, but pays attention to his environment and thereby values the really important things in life.

What do you like about cycling?

There is nothing that makes me so happy. Cycling connects and creates bonds through experiences that can be as close and intense as few things in life can be.

“I want to learn, learn, learn”

What are you looking forward to most about the Maloja Pushbikers?

I had been interested in the team for a long time, but I lacked any experience. Now I’m looking forward to the first training camps together in 2022 and the first races!
Where do you like to cycle most?
Everywhere there are mountains! Around Hallein, where I currently live, and in neighbouring Berchtesgaden – you can only go uphill if you want to.
What do you consider to be your greatest successes on the bike so far?

3. Platz Mühlviertler Hügelweltclassic 2021

2. Platz Kitzbühler Horn Rennen 2021

2. Platz Bergrennen Hochkar 2021

“Cycling as if on another planet”

Why did you apply to the Pushbikers?
For me, the Maloja Pushbikers are the epitome of regional cycling. Riding for a team with regional roots is great for me. Of course, communicating in the “home language” is also part of it for me.
What is your season highlight for 2022?
My goal for the season is to fulfil the tasks assigned to me during the races in the best possible way. And I would very much like to compete in a UCI Tour.
Where would you like to be in five years?
Continental driver and Bundeswehr soldier.
